Marina degli Aregai

Log book

Patrizio arrives on board Adriatic in the Marina degli Aregai, at Santo Stefano. The manager of the harbour Stefano Conte accompanies him and acts as his guide.

It seems that the name “Aregai” derive from a verb meaning to drown, because in this area the sea sweeps past without too much clemency ... the entrance to the harbour is oriented east-northeast, and so the strong side winds, the dangerous ones, are the winds that blow from east-southeast. But apart from this it seems to be a calm place and above all extremely well equipped.

The harbour has a draught of up to 5 metres and has 980 places for boats from 7 and a half metres to 32 metres. In the summer period there is also a part of the quay organized in the English manner for boats up to 60 metres, and at any rate some places are always kept available in the high season for pure transit and yachters always find a warm reception!

As for services, the harbour has electricity and water on the quay, wifi, and an automatic pumping service for bilge, and guarantees that people are available for mooring 24/7, to be contacted on channel 9. The harbour is connected to the land and also boasts a vast range of extra services: from the commercial gallery with shops, laundry and gym, to sports fields, to the little tourist train in the “far west” style that takes boaters to visit the town ... Without counting the Aregai yard, that with a 100-ton travel lift is equipped for supporting any maintenance or repairs.

Patrizio then discovers that just outside the harbour there is one of the most beautiful shoals in Liguria: the Santo Stefano shoal, with walls of gorgonia and a lot of fish (barracudas, groupers, morays ...). Obviously in the harbour there is also a diving club, which can prepare beginners to get their first licence in a short time, within 18 metres, enough to begin to get an idea of the magic of the submarine world!

The tourist harbour provides the following services:

  • Financial services - ATM
  • Maritime bureaucratic services
  • Laundromat
  • Fishing articles
  • Freezers - Refrigerators
  • Short-stay car park
  • Long-stay car park
  • Broker services
  • Catering services
  • Pharmacy
  • Services for animals
